YEAH - I have my first appointment with the surgeon on July 28 -- I am so ready to be a part of the banded club! I have talked with my insurance and they said it is a covered procedure (awesome)! I have had my psych eval and eventually I am not completely crazy - she approved me for the surgery:)

What happens at the first appointment? What's the average time frame for a surgery date after that first appointment?

It varies based on many factors. Your surgeon at the initial appt should be able to give you a general time frame. Honestly, it can run from 2 weeks to a year...so just hang in there and your surgeon will let you know!

If you just can't stand to wait (I couldn't) call and ask the staff at your surgeon's office. They should be able to give you a rough idea.
