Fatty Liver?

Hi All,

I am just beginning the process. I have a question. I have a fatty liver (diagnosed years ago). Will this prevent me from having the surgery?

Thanks,

Dawn

It depends on your doc and the severity of the problem. They may have you go on a special liver shrink diet for a while to lessen the issue as I have seen that done many times. Talk to the dr and they will let you know what you need to do.

I wonder how you diagnose a fatty liver?

I also was diagnosed with a fatty liver well before surgery.

My doctor emphasized the importance of sticking to the pre-op diet. I did - and the surgery was a success the first time around.

Good Luck!

The fatty liver was diagnosed through a blood test. I have blood tests annually to monitor my Liver Enzymes. When the fatty liver was first discovered I had a liver biopsy to rule out cirhosis & hepatitis.
