Hi everyone!

My name is Amanda, and I am considering getting lap-band surgery.

I have been overweight literally my whole life (except for maybe when I was born!). My whole family is also overweight.

When I got my gallbladder removed, my surgeon also mentioned to me that he does lap-band surgery and thinks that it is something I should consider and would be beneficial for me.

I am just not too sure about getting it because I am only 20 years old.

I would love to hear from anyone else who got it, especially if you are young or know someone who's gotten it around my age. (:

Is this surgery safe for someone as young as 20?

Hi Amanda-

I would research *all* the different types of WLS and not just the band. If you are going to be successful, you need to pick the one that works best for your food issues and has the post-op lifestyle you can live with. Here's a chart to get you started:
