Any advice?

Hi, Any advice would be appreciated!!

So i was banded on 24th Feb, Had my first fill a week ago, Im having two health shakes a day (approx 250cals) and a tin of Soup a day, plus Water.

Between starting my pre-op diet and today ive lost about 20lbs, but the last few days i haven't lost a thing!!

Im swimming twice a week and walking 3 nights.

Im feeling good, but im disheartend that ive come to a wee bit of a stand still.

any ideas? Thank you!

Log your food intake and see what your daily calories are. It is very possible you need to actually add some more food. You are exercising and you probably need to up the intake to at least 1000 per day. I keep mine between 1200-1500 without exercising.

Question: Are you drinking the shakes for convenience?

Thank you for reply, i did wonder if i maybe needed more calories.

Yes and no about the shakes, it is convenitent for me to take them with me, but atm im struggling a bit with eating, sometimes i can eat no problem and the next i cant take anything, but im not feeling hungry.

You should be on FOOD by now, not liquids. Has your doctor prescribed the post op diet you are on? I don't think you're eating properly...liquids don't utilize the band properly, and can't be good for your bowels etc. ??

sorry, i didnt make myself clear there, after op i was on foods, but since fill a week ago ive struggled. Fill was done under xray, and dr was very happy with everything. I just presumed that after fill it will just need a bit of time to settle?

I agree with the girls on this one. 5 weeks later you should not just be on liquids...even according to some of the stricter doc diets I have read on here. What did your doc or nutritionist prescribe for your post op diet?

You shouldn't need over a day or two post fill to proceed from liquid to mushies and then on to food. IMHO you aren't eating enough, especially for the exercise you are doing. The point is to lose in a healthy manner, not starve yourself (and lose muscle instead of fat).

Remember the "band" comes with a loss of 1-2 pounds a week. You need to get on a healthy diet and then see where you're at! :smile2:

TBH, i got a small booklet from the hospital about diet up to 4 weeks post op, then "normal diet"

Thank you all for your advice, i will keep an eye on my diet and try to up my calories.

This is what concerns me. If you are struggling to eat a week after your fill, you sound like you are too tight. Have you tried eating Protein? If so, what happens? If you aren't able to eat solids, then you need to call your doctor. I hate to think about you being miserable like that.
