Thinking it through!

I am considering lapband. Please let me know the pros and cons. I have read some very inspiring stories!! Also, has any one used Dr. Croomes in Tallahassee?

The one piece of information that I was missing was in regards to bandster hell. After having the band placed you will need to rely on dieting and will power for about six weeks until your first fill and then until you hit that sweet spot. I am not trying to scare you but I wish I would have known a lot more about that period of time.

Pros

  1. loss of weight
  2. eating less
  3. able to function better IE active with family
  4. more energy
  5. less medications
  6. greater health and longer life.
  7. Better sex life

Cons

  1. risk of slippage
  2. erosion
  3. infection

For me the pros outweighed the cons.

The bandster hell previously mentioned doesn't happen to everyone. I didn't have it. Some doctors don't even make you wait 6 weeks for a fill... I haven't felt a hunger pang since I had my Lb surgery 4/23/08. To this day I eat when the clock says to eat.

Everyones experience is very different. I would read more on the forums and attend local meetings/seminars with the doctor you're considering.
