Cough attacks

:frown:It's been four days since surgery. I've been getting these bad cough attacks. I get scared, I feel like the port is going to move out of place. Did anyone experience cough attacks after surgery? If yes, did the port stay in place?

You should see your doctor right away if you have a cough after surgery. I ended up with pneumonia after surgery and the coughing was very painful. I got on antibiotics and cough syrup with codeine and things improved dramatically. Hold a pillow over your stomach when you cough- it helps. I was also concerned that I was damaging my band or port with all of the coughing but the doctor said everything was still ok and in place. Coughing after this surgery is nothing to mess around with- see you doctor today!

Surgery on 2-20-09

First fill scheduled for 4-9-09

This happened to me after surgery and my doctor told me because it was a productive cough it was ok and normal after anesthia. Holding a pillow really help. You should check with your doc because Im not sure what a dry cough would mean. Are you using the breathing thing they sent you home with? That is to help so that you dont get pneumonia.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I noticed the coughs would come after drinking the isopure powder mix protein drink (will try new drinks). It gets my throat really dry and can't stop coughing for a while. I will consult my surgeon/doc see what he says.
