Hi, today is my first post, but I've been reading these forums for weeks now. I think I have finally worked up enough courage to ask my doctor for his blessing and begin the process of being approved. I'm nearly 54 and I've been heavy all of my life. I have super high blood pressure and problems with my legs and both limit the amount of activity I can sustain for more than a few minutes at a time. I've been on every diet known to man and can't seem to stick it out. I know that if I can't get some help I'll die before I see my grown grandchildren have families, and I can't bear that thought. Please wish me luck as I start through this approval process. Thank you all.

Welcome! You can do it, First Hope. You'll be gaining a tool which will help you "stick it out" by giving you borders, by letting you know when enough is enough. Here's hoping you doctor is supportive and you move through the approal process as quickly as possible. Good luck!

You are doing the right thing! And you have come to the right place for all the support you will need. Be patient with the insurance company, they make you jump through hoops and it takes awhile, It took me 6 months to be approved even having most of the requirements done but I was persistent even after I was denied twice. I was just approved last week and my surgery date is March 25th.

:thumbup: Congratulations!! I'm not sure about insurance, I have Medicare and they can say yes or no it seems at their own whim. I'm really worried about the approval process because I've read on their site that they will only approve if you are between 30 and 55 and I'm getting closer day by day to that closing door...:wink:
