I'm Shane...I live in Louisburg, NC and work in nearby Raleigh...I'm 39 years old and my wife and I have been married 13 years and have an 8 year old son...I've come to the conclusion that I want to live a long and healthy life so I've decided to get "banded"...my physician is Dr. Moran in Raleigh...I've gone to the initial seminar and my insurance information was approved today...my first appointment is Feb. 24 and I'm very excited/anxious to proceed...currently I am 6'1" and weigh 355 lbs with a BMI of 46.8...not sure if this is all too much info...LOL...but I'll share...I have comorb's Diabetes and Hypertension...I'm so looking forward to what I hope to be a NEW ME...I haven't thought too much about goals other than to be able to stop using medication for those two issues...thanks for reading !!!

Hi Shane, welcome to LBT! You know I never set any band goals for myself. To be honest, I am afraid of failure. You know when you have been on 20-something diet attempts you get kind of afraid to set a weight loss goal.

Like you, my goal is to live a long healthy life. So good luck on your journey!

Welcome to LBT! Just to let you know just after 2-3 weeks I came off of my blood pressure meds!.. Wow...Getting off the meds is just one thing you will get to look forward to after some good weight loss. Good luck and always follow the 'rules of the tool'

Hi Shane,

I live in Louisburg, too. And I'm scheduled to have the lap band done by Dr. Moran next Thursday, Feb. 12. Small world, huh? He actually performed abdominal surgery on my dad at Franklin Regional a couple of years ago. Imagine my surprise when I asked my dr. who she'd recommend for a lapband and she said Joseph Moran! I'll have the surgery at Rex, which I think is the only place he does them. Good luck to you. Maybe since we're neighbors, we can keep each other out of trouble.

Hi Shane and welcome. You will just love this site. Keep reading and asking questions. I recently had my BP medication cut in half and my doctor said she thinks it won't be much longer until I am off of them completely. I feel so much better now!!! Lots more energy!!! Good luck to you!! Becky

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
