Waiting for Ins. Co. and preparing

I am waiting for my insurance company to OK my surgery, so I do not yet have a lap-band date. Right now I am attending support group at my surgeons office, and taste-testing protein powders to get ready. What I would like to know from you more experienced banders is "What item were you so glad to have during your recovery?" AND "What was your favorite liquid or soft food item?" ALSO: Any advice for me on what to acquire before the surgery, to do before surgery, or anything else? Looking forward to hearing from you all!!!

These are good questions to ask again in the Pre-Op forum.

One thing I would caution you about is taste-testing Protein powders. I have so many friends who found a powder they loved pre-op, bought a ton of it, and then couldn't *stand* it post-op. Our tastes change for some reason, at least temporarily.

My other advice is to bring chapstick to the hospital! But not much else. You'll be in and out pretty fast, most likely.

Thank you!! I will keep the taste thing in mind and not go crazy on the "stocking up". Also, thank you for the lip balm tip. It will be in my purse from now on, so I won't forget it!
