I'm joining here in hopes to find posts from other Ontario Canadians, who have had the lap band surgery.

I am very seriously considering having it done, but it looks like no one in Ottawa does the surgery so I may be Toronto bound.

I have to see my Dr in a couple weeks for a check up and am going to talk to him about it.

I contacted CIBO in Toronto and have spoken to them a bit, and they tell me the price is $18,000 and OHIP will not pay.

How in the world have you been able to afford the surgery? I can't afford large payments, and if I take small monthly payments I'll probably be dead before I pay it all off. :thumbdown:

I'm from California, so I can't help you with your information Quest. We do have a section just for people from Canada though and I know at least some people have gotten OHIP to pay so it would be worth asking in that subforum.
