Moved - need help!!

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I've just moved to Austin, Texas. Went to Scott & White and was told because I had my band done in Mexico, they will not fill. Have called several people. Does anyone know anyone from Houstin to Amarillo that will do a fill. I would have thought that Texas was big enough to have several fill doctors that are open to being helpful. I am desperate and starting to gain because I am so open. My band is either open or closed - I don't have much flexibility and need to be near the fill doctor the day after the fill. I'm willing to travel. Any help? Thank you. I was doing so well and lost 96 pounds. Its amazing how quickly it can come back. I thank you all for any help you can provide. N

Hi there, just looking to talk to people who have had the lap band put in and what their experiences are/were like. Both good and bad. I want to know all the stuff that doctors don't necessarily tell you. I'd like info from real people who've done weither it's good or bad.

Most surgeons don't want to take on someone else's patient. That's true anywhere...not just Texas. However since you're in Austin, can't you go back to Mexico for fills? It may not be close but then neither is Amarillo.

Thanks to those of you that replied. There was some add'l info that some asked. My doctor in Mexico was murdered so it seems that it would be better to find someone closer. It is the Inamed (sp??) band and my doctor had trained many US docs. Thank you for the suggestion about the Fill Center - I had never heard of this. To the person that stated that doctors don't want to take on patients that aren't their own - it really is a very common practice in everything but this bariatric procedure. But if they won't, they won't - its just disappointing - people move around all the time. Once again - thank you. N

Good luck! I'm sorry about your surgeon; could you maybe get his clinic to send your records? Often surgeons will be more likely to take you on if you have your paperwork...anyway I'll hope someone/something comes through for you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
