Help

Hello, I just had my band put on Friday, when I came home last night I accidently swallowed the piece of gum I was chewing. This is Sunday I think it is struck but I'm not sure. I think I feel somethiing, however I can still drink fine. I am so nervous. What does anyone recommend?

Thanks

I feel ok. I think I am just nervous that I have messed something up. I think I can still fell something there but i swallow fine, so I am not sure?

It's unlikely that it is "stuck"--there's nothing for it to "stick" onto. The band is not so tight that the gum won't go through the opening. I think if you're drinking and still peeing, that shows that you're passing fluid through, so there isn't anything obstructing the passage. If it was stuck, you would feel it and your body would try to eject it back out--that's my opinion.

By now I think you've probably figured out the gum is not a good idea, right?:)

I agree to call your surgeon. You may feel fine but we aren't docs and don't know you or your medical background etc...you're probably ok but it would be up to your surgeon to make that call! And you can be a warning about the dangers of gum! :)

I NEVER swallow my gum and haven't since I was 5 and told by a babysitter that I'd have a gum tree grow in my stomach (I was scared for months! LOL) but know as soon as I started chewing, now that I have the band, i'd swallow it, so I just avoid it. Safest that way.
