burn baby burn

I was banded 8-1-08, had a port revision done on 10-17-08. After my last fill I was unable to eat anything without throwing it right back up, went to have 1/2cc removed...all was fine, but now (1 month after 1/2cc removal) I am having heartburn and reflux quite often. I'm having a hard time eating without ending up with heartburn and wake up at night with reflux burning my throat. Has anyone had a problem like this??? Any ideas of what to do??? I do plan on seeing my surgeon, but until then, I could use some help!!!!

Thanks!

Not eating after 7:00 pm can help. Propping up your pillows when you sleep so that your head and shoulders are elevated above your stomach a little more help. Acid reducing/reflux meds can also help.

I had this problem as well. The things listed above helped me slightly. Getting a small unfill made my problems dissapear completely. You might just need to have a tiny unfill.

If you are not on a prescription heartburn medication get one at your next doctor visit. In the meantime get some Prilosec. If you can find an elevated pillow - buy one and use it (I have used one for years - long before my banding). Avoid chocolate, mint, spicy food and tomato based things. Good luck.

I would drink soothing fluids to calm the system down, until I could see the doctor. Then I would get a slight unfill. Sorry your going through this.
