I was just banded on 12/10. I have had terrible problems swallowing. Every time I try to drink something i get a terrible pain in my chest (almost like a heart attack), I feel like I have something large stuck down in my throat and I would have a difficult time breathing. Finally, yesterday my dh took me back to the surgeon and they did x-rays and another barrium swallow test and he let me and my husband watch and explained what was going on, and it turned out "my" problems is I am having esophogeal spasms. I kept thinking either something was wrong with my band, I was having a heart attack, a panic attack or something. Turns out mine is just my stupid esophagus. I am still on my liquid post op diet but he told me to only drink warm or room temperature stuff to help my esophagus relax. I have notices a huge difference in one day. I know there can also be any number other things that can cause problems, I would really recommend you INSIST you get back in to see your doctor if just for ease of mind that everything is ok.

You still probably have a lot of swelling in there. It will get better with time. I have very good restriction and I only have little over 1cc in a band that can hold around 11cc. I have to be very careful when I eat or I can't get it down. Some people just seem to have more swelling and earlier restriction than others.

I went out and got some prilosec and started taking that. Also, I have been drinking hot tea. I get my first fill on the 30th and thought I would wait till then, if I can, and mention my esophaugus problem then. I too think mine starts into spasms.

It is nice to know I am not the only one with this problem. :huh2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. ย Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! ๐Ÿ˜ž
