Hello - Just joined, getting first fill 12/16

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone on this site. I was banded on 11/3/2008 and have lost 38 lbs since surgery, 58 lbs from first weigh-in pre-op. I have my first fill scheduled for this Tuesday and am hoping (probably false hope) that my first fill will give some actual restriction similar to the first couple of weeks post-op.

Looking forward to getting this weight off for good. I have had several bad things going on due to weight and some of these are already showing improvement, especially blood sugar control. I also see my cardiologist Monday afternoon and would not be surprised to see him doing cartwheels about me finally getting this approved and started.

:)

Hey, there are people who get restriction with the first fill. But it is rare. Even just a little restriction will help.

Hi, I was filled at surgey (11/11/08) with 3cc and had great restriction. I was give a 1.5cc fill on 12/10/08 and have REALLY great restriction.

Prior to the December 10 fill, I was getting really hungry and started snacking. My weight stayed the same. No loss, but no gain. I track my calories (Sparkpeople.com) and I went from eating 1,100 calories a day to over 1,600 calories a day before the 12/10/08 fill.

I shared my concerns with my surgeon and she gave me the fill on December 10. Thank goodness! I am not snacking, my daily calories are around 1,000 to 1,200 a day. I track my Protein intake every day and I am right on track. I am getting my fluids in as well.

Results are different for everyone, but I just wanted to share my story with you. If I need another fill, I will get one on January 14, 09.

Good luck!

Well, Just had my first fill today with 3cc in 14cc band. I am really having to take things very slowly right now. liquids have to go down slowly since I got home, but were OK at the surgeon's office. I do not believe I will be able to do even very soft foods if I stay like this for long. I may have some swelling from the fill, but if not, I will probably have to have maybe 1cc removed. I guess I will have to wait and see if this settles down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
