Surgeon appointment

My surgeon appt at Kaiser is next Wednesday 12/10! It was scheduled for 1/8 but I called to see if they had any cancellation appts and they did. YAY!

Does anyone have any good tips or expectations for me? I'm very excited, but nervous!

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Congratulations on your initial visit. (I'm assuming that's what this is.)

I was nervous about mine, too, but there really wasn't anything to worry about. I met the dietician and the patient liaison, had to fill out the usual medical history kind of things, and then met with the surgeon and his assistant. I was also weighed and my blood pressure was taken.

Maybe others are different, but my initial visit went very well. I hope yours does too.

Thanks Debbi, I'm hoping that this week flies by and Wednesday is here before I know it. I just want to have a few appts behind me so I can feel like I'm really on my way and this is really going to happen! :cursing:

Good luck, and let me know how it goes. It's pretty exciting, and I know exactly how you feel!

At my surgeon appointment with Kaiser in Richmond, he asked me which surgery I wanted to have and then he had me lay down and lift up my shirt so he could feel my abdomen/chest area where he would be cutting etc. He also went over my medical history of prior surgeries and any current medical problems, medications, etc. He then asked if I had any questions or concerns. It was a pretty short appointment.

My appointment is on 12/11 with Dr. Martin in Greensboro, NC and I am also excited. I was wondering what are some good questions to ask at my first visit?

My referral was made on a Thursday 11/13 and on Monday 11/17 I called to see if they received my referral and ask about orientation. She set me up for orientation 11/25, right before Thanksgiving. It went great and thanks to this website I was very well informed before getting there and didn't find myself too overwhelmed.

Now I have a surgeon appt this Wednesday 12/10, so I only had a 15 day span between orientation and surgeon appt. My appt was supposed to be 1/8/09 but I called and asked if there were any cancellations and there were! So I'm now a month ahead of where I would've been had I kept the original appt for January.

I'm SO excited!

I posted a thread here on 12/2 "What to ask surgeon?..."

with my list of questions. I've been slowly putting it together for my upcoming consult from researching here mainly. Not all the questions are for your first visit (like some of the post-op stuff) but I like having it all in one place. I'm thinking that the surgeon will probably cover most of it with what he tells me when I get there. Good luck.
