Already fell off the wagon...

Hi guys! I got banded 10 days ago. I'm doing very well with losing, and have lost a lot of weight in just a week and a half. However, I caved today. I'm supposed to be on a soft food, high protein, low carbs, low sugar diet, and I completely fell off the wagon. I ate almost a whole packet of maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal for breakfast, huevos rancheros (minus the tortilla) for lunch, 3 bite size milky ways, 2/3 of a corn dog for dinner, and tomato soup with cheese crackers for my "second dinner"...and I still want to eat!!! I don't know what to do! I'm worried that I'm going to stretch my pouch and mess the whole thing up! Please help!

BTW, I am supposed to eat 6 times a day, but no more than 4 oz. at a time.

I too, was banded on the 24th. I haven't fallen off the wagon yet, but I feel myself going. It's hard but we must be strong. Stop eating now and start over with a new outlook. Not that you fell off the wagon but it's a new beginning, again. good luck. I know how you feel. Allison

Thanks, Allison. I went into the chat room after I posted this, and I received a lot of encouragement and good advice, much like yours. Thank God for this website!

I know every doc is different, what diet does yours have you on? What are you having a hard time with? You can always message me if you need someone to talk to.

Thanks for your kind words.

You guys aren't restricted yet. I know it is like preaching to the choir but really let your body heal. Stay to your Dr's regement liquids mushies whatever just let your body heal....you are going to be hungery this is normal!!! LET YOUR BODY HEAL dont feel like you went off the deep end unless your outside what your DR recommends at this stage!

I'm not really sure how to take your response...

I'm already aware that I need to let my body heal, which is why I feel awful about what I did today. I also know that I'm going to be hungry. Mostly, I know that I'm human and this won't be the last time I "F" up. If all of us were set in "self control department", none of us would have to have this surgery in the first place. Nor would we need a website that offers support and encouragement.

I think I know what she means. It means don't look at calories or fat. If you are on a liquid stick to liquid. If you are on a mushie stick to mushy. My doct just said to try and get my 60 gram of protien in and don't worry about the rest. Your body needs Protein to heal. Buit i understand where you are coming from bobina. "Sure I can stick to what he wants, but I can do it in a health way or an unhealthy way." We don't want to lose ground after joining the band.

Give me a P-R-O-T-E-I-N! :tongue::tongue::eek:

bobina, I'm still on a liquid diet until this friday then go to mushies, on the 21st on nov. I can strat real food again. I've never been a smoker, but I now how harder it must be for them to quit. Because we are quitting our food. I know a lot of smoker who still a cig. even now and then. Do you have children. I have 3 yrold twins, it's hard cooking for them and giving them snacks without a bite. Hang in there. Allison

Ugh, I know just what you mean. I have a 3 year old also, and an 8 year old. I do feed them healthy meals, but it's just stuff that I can't have right now. Also, the fact the Halloween just passed hasn't helped matters! LOL! Anyway, today is much better--I got a hold of myself and I'm back on the plan!

I haven't fallen off the wagon yet, but I did have a literal crumb of chocolate the other night. My husband was eating a candy bar and I couldn't stand it. I figured it was better for me to just have a teensy taste and stop there than think about a Take 5 bar for days on end. I had my teensy taste and I was satisfied.

I wish I could have sent my 3 yr olds to grandma and grandpa's. One of my biggest problems, is not carrying them. My daughter is getting very upset that I'm carrying her like I usually do. And, that is hard for me too...

Good for you! Sometimes you need a little taste to satisfy the craving.

I know exactly how you feel. My son is too huge to carry all the time, but I do pick him up quite often, and it's been hard on both of us that I can't do it right now. It's also been difficult when carrying out discipline--normally, if he won't go into time out on his own, I'll carry him there. Also, tonight we went to the mall and he didn't want to leave--well, again, I would normally either pick him up or take his hand and pull him, but I had to find a whole new approach. It took some convincing, but he finally did what he was told!

Yes, the time out thing is hard, I too usually have to carry them to the spot, but can't right now. I'm lucky though that both my kids aren't big. My daughter is only 19 lbs, my son 25lbs. Hang in there, Allison

I was banded 9/26 I too have had 2/3 of a corn dog, chips very sm amt and a few mini reses peanutbutter cups. I am still loosing but be very careful Hand in there and go back to protien shakes if you are feeling hungry. Oh make sure you eat protien first.

As bad as it is that you cheated, it made me feel somewhat better!!lol I was doing really good, listening completely and thinking wow! this isnt hard at all, so glad i got banded(on oct 27 btw) then 2 days ago(8 days banded)i still didnt have a bm and was getting bad pain in my lower abdomen R side and got worried, called doc, told to take miralax. I did that night, next morning and AGAIN that night. I went 3 times, very little each time, the pain subsided some. (oh, and I found out not by my doc but by this site that codeine can make you constipated so I stopped that 2 days ago)

I got VERY hungry! My diet is full liquids until Saturday then to soft for 2 weeks. I knewww I could handle more than liquids NOW and I was extremely tired of liquids! So I made myself 2 servings of instant mashed potatoes thinking I would never be able to eat that much. I even added a piece of swiss cheese into potatoes for a little extra texture and taste. I ate it all and pretty fast too. Ok. Why didnt I get sick and throw it up like i hear so often people do if they overeat just a "LITTLE"? I'm not done yet. My husband made turnips and mashed potatoes, pork chops, and green beans. The bbq sauce on the chops smelled soooo good.....

Yes. I cut up half a pork chop into little pieces, had some turnip/potato mash and green beans and looved it. Wow. I still wasnt umm overstuffed. Later I had a FULL glass 16oz of choclate milk with malt added to it. Ok, there, i spilled the beans.

I called my doc this am and told about the pain in abdomen and about going off liquid with some "mashed potatoes". I was told "go back to your diet and stick with that". ok.

Later that morn, i had 3 LARGE bowel movement, my stomach feels much better, not perfect but better and I am back to, heavy sigh, liquids.

Maybe there is no advice here, but maybe you feel a little better now?lol I do.
