First step to getting banded!

Recommended Posts

Hello all. So, today was my first appointment with the doctor to get banded. In order for my insurance to approve the surgery I must complete 6 months of a followed diet with my doctor. After that they will approve it and I will be scheduled for surgery. I am looking at about 9 months before I can get surgery... that seems so long but when I think about it, I have been over weight my whole life so what is 9 months going to do! I am ready for this change, I NEED this change. I am 150lbs over weight. I do not have the quality of life that I should at my age. Ahhhh I am starting this journey, glad you are all here with me!!

Hey acasner! Yep you have started the lapband journey. Time will fly believe me. Then before you know you will be banded! I know that is how it was for me. I was banded on 9/24/08. So far so good. I would suggest to get in the habit of keeping a food journal - that will help out so much and attend support group meetings in your area. You will find several free online journals online to keep what you eat - that way you can show your doctor during the waiting period and it will be old hat to you after you are banded. I use www.myfitnesspal.com - I wish I had started it before getting banded - but did not. Love it! I tried a couple before that one but find myfitnesspal.com to be very complete and user friendly.

Good luck on this new journey!

Good for you! I'm in the same boat, with the six month diet, almost one month down :-P.

Noticed your from Carlisle, used to spend summers there when I was a kid. My aunt and uncle had a dairy farm.

GL on your lapband journey!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
