ok you all, i had my surgery feb 2008. i just found out today that my band has slipped. i was completely obstructed not even a drop was going down. i had my surgery in mexico and i live in sc. the local bariatric doctor here in sc did an emergency unfill on me but he will not do my surgery to fix the band because i had my surgery in mexico. does anyone know of any doctors here in the states that will touch a banded patient from mexico? if anyone can help please.

But, my band has slipped twice. I had the same problem when it happened, I could not get liquids or anything else down. However, both times I had a complete unfill for about a month. In addition, I did liquids only for several days after the unfill. When I returned to my doctor, he did a flouroscopy and both times my band had gone back into place. So, perhaps yours will too.

Tlynn- if you go to a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery they have to take you. A colleague friend of mine who works for the Center that did my surgery told me that as part of their accreditation as a COE, they have to take any bariatric patient regardless if they did their surgery or not. Of course, you may have to pay upfront, but they cannot turn you away outright. Hope this helps.

I, too, had a slipped band & an unfill, & was able to refill it after awhile. I had it unfilled under floroscope & saw it slip back as soon as it was unfilled. I was suppose to wait 4 to 6 weeks to have it refilled, but actually waited almost 4 months. I'm doing okay since then. Hope that will work for you.
