surgery date! Waiting for Cigna insurance approval

Well I just got a surgery date for Nov 17TH!!!! I am so excited, but a little apprehensicve about my insurance approval. Cigna is horrible for everything, I just hope I get an approval with no trouble. I'm not sure if I should call them or if that would make it worse. Anyone else have experience with them?

Congrsts~ My doctor won't set a date until Aetna approves. I'm hoping for Nov. 25th. I can't wait either.

Hello I also have cigna at first denied but did an appeal and now approved I get banded on 10/22/08. so hang in there if they do not approve then appeal just make sure you have every thing there asking for my first consult was in march but it Was well worth the wait God answers prayers....................

:) That's great to hear. Aetna should approve mine. It's a covered benefit under my husbands insurance. I just have to go through 90 days of doctors appt.s and follow their rules. I have done everything now except the psych appt which is next week. My last nutrition appt is Nov. 3rd and then off to insurance for approval. Gal in their office says normally an approval in under two weeks. I would really like to get it done before Thanksgiving to have the extra fews days off. Plus I would get out of having the family over and cooking this year.

Cigna denied my surgery, they said they didn't get all the information. So I went through my doctor and nutritionist's notes that were submitted (for my 6 months of medi. supervised weight loss program) and see that not all of them state that diet AND exercise were discussed, so now I have to get them to basically re-write their notes with all the required information, because we DID discuss both diet and exercise at all of the appointments, they just didn't document it! AGHH...... Insurance and doctors are so frustrating and my PCP is so by the book, she may say she can't alter her notes.

I just hope I can get all of this information and submitted soon, so I don't lose my surgery date. I am trying to think positively - and hope it gets done.
