Not really sure yet

Hi, I'm Ron,

No Decision, no Doctor, no direction.

308 lbs, need to be 200. Looking at options, as I have absolutely no success with managing my own weight. There WILL be an event in my life that will change the way I live, I want to choose it. This has been the recommended avenue. Other than that, I'm just checking things out here to get as much help as I can. Thanks to anyone that chooses to give advice.

Where did you get the "requirements"

I got my information a lot from this site, but mostly from going to visit the group that I was considering for my surgery. If you check the FAQs here, you will find a lot of answers as to the changes you will have to make in your life to have a successful lap band. There are definitely some sacrifices, but I have seen both in person and on this board some tremendously inspiring success stories.

Have not thought about Mexico at all. I am insured, and wonder what they would say if I went to Mexico and there were complications? No?

Although I do Live in Mesa, AZ, not too far. Where would I find information

Ronniekroll,

My advice would be to go ahead and do it. I am recently banded and it is without a doubt one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I used to hear all the stories about what a hard journey it was - but it really hasn't been that hard for me. I was sore after the op but have not looked back once since leaving hospital. It has all been good and with exercise the weight is dropping off. Good luck to you with your decision making. The band has given me the control over my eating that I was unable to get without it.
