When do you get hungry?

Depending on what I eat I get hungry 1 1/2 hours - 2 1/2 hours after I eat. It seems normal but then it seems like I should not get hungry until 3 - 4 hours after. I just got a fill last Thursday. So, How long after you eat do you get hungry?

I started feeling ready for water an hour after food. Then I would eat a 15 calorie sugar free ice lolly (10 minutes...)then I would start sipping water until next mealtime.Yes, I get hungry fast but try to stick to water until mealtimes.....(sometimes its tough though)

Trish,

for me it depends. Alot of times my "hunger" is purely mental. LaMadam suggested to me loooong ago - to wait until my tummy growls until I actually eat. Bad thing is that my tummy very seldom growls.

just to give you an example... last friday night, we had a bunch of people over and had a ton of food prepared. I nibbled on everything here and there, stopping around 5:30. I didnt eat again until the next morning's coffee... and my tummy never growled!

Anyway, I still find myself grazing instead of having 3 meals a day.

So, finally answering your question, I probably eat 2-3 hours apart. But never get really hungry, just eat b/c of boredom or availability, or emotional whatevers! :)

It depends on me too, I usually eat Breakfast around 6:30 a.m. and then lunch at 12-12:30, and supper 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. I usually don't eat much between those meals, but sometimes I get really hungry (especially mid morning) depending on what I ate for breakfast. If my stomach starts growling I eat a piece of fruit or some yogurt and it takes care of it.

I think some of my biggest wanting to eat is at night time, after supper when I want to snack. Now, that isn't hunger it is boredom or watching my DH eating all that junk! :):):D

Trish, for me it depends on what I ate. I notice if I eat hard proteins it could be hours before Iam hungry again, if it is a softer protein, it could be alot quicker, alot of it is mental. I usually wait until my stomach is growling. Even if I think Iam hungry doesnt mean I really truly am hungry.

Thanks everyone! So I think Im doing good... I do need to drink more water. that will probably help me not to get so hungry inbetween meals so quickly.

Trish~ I usually start drinking Water first thing in the morning. I drink about 20 oz on the way to work. Then at work I eat breakfast around 9:00. I can't seem to eat before that.Usually for breakfast I will have a Protein shake or some turkey and low fat cheese or some yogurt. Something small. Then I start drinking water a couple hours after breakfast and then I eat lunch at 1:00 . Then I drink water later in the afternoon and finish getting at least 64 oz in for the day. I usually eat dinner around 6:30. I think I get hungrier inbetween lunch and dinner but If I have a snack I pick a healthy one. I really try hard not to snack and sometimes I think it is just the mental hunger and not that I'm really hungry. At night sometiomes is hard cause my hubby likes sweets and he eats junk sometimes but I keep low fat fudge bars in the freezer for the occasional sweet.

It is such a puzzle sometimes remembering to wait so long after meals to drink and trying to not eat if you aren't really hungry. It is hard sometimes to listen to your body and to stay in a routine. Getting in your water and if you must eat between meals picking healthy Snacks really does help you lose weight and feel satisfied in doing so.
