bodices & corsets? Problem or not?

My DH & I are 'rennies'. We love Renaissance Faires & all they entail.

One of my 'treats' once I hit my goal weight is to buy a Ren Faire costume. However, most of these costumes include a bodice a/o a corset. Has anyone tried to wear a tight-fitting bodice or corset post-surgery & did it turn out OK? I don't want to end up damaging anything.
