Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!

I went to lunch with my mom and sister yesterday. We went to Olive Garden. Our waitress was great, but the manager was a huge ass!!

I had asked the waitress if I could see the children's menu. I also handed her my special diet card. She told me that she was not allowed to let me order from the children's menu, but that she would show my card to the managers and ask for me.

Well, they said NO. Seriously. . . I couldn't even look at it!! LAME.

I ended up eating some of my mom's chicken breast, and a few shrimp from my sister's plate.

It was all fine in the end , but I was just pissed on the princeable. Because they refused to let me order from the kid's menu--I ordered nothing. Losers

I think it would be nice for them to let us always order from the kids menu's but, like another poster said they don't have too...

I was worried when we went to Reb Lobster the other day, but our waiter let me get a kid's meal, no questions asked.

I order from the kid's menu all the time. One time at Red Lobster the waitress did say it was their policy for only kids to order, but she would let me. Hubby and I discussed it and decided that if ever they refused to let us order, we wouldn't make a fuss, just say thank you, get up and walk out. I've also never been asked to show my card. If they don't want my business then they don't want my husbands either.

Hi I also order a whole meal now and enjoy it at home over and over again for a different reason... Have any of you had a problem with eating with friends and you only having soup and they order a whole dinner with drinks and desert and split the bill... I have found that to be the norm.. When I call someone on it they made me fell so petty... Now I keep up and bring it home. Just seems easier. Do any of you have this problem? Let me know how you handled it.:)

I guess I'm petty, but usually if I go out with a group we go dutch. Each pays their own bill. I don't think it is fair that someone orders a Filet Minnon for $25.00 and I order soup for $3.50 and I have to pay for theirs.

I have never heard of this... I think everyone should pay for their own. Sounds like they are petty for taking your wallet for a ride.

OK this is couples. We have been going out with these different couples for over 30 years...(might need new friends) tee hee Well in the past we would split 50 50 and over the decades it would even out..... But may be it is petty but when the bill comes and it is over 200 and all you had was soup. Well now my husband will have a regular meal, and desert but he doesn't equal two. When I said something they started to pick the bill apart and the whole thing was not pretty. Oh well I guess I'm being petty. I know it is hard enough to watch all the feeding now and how much people eat... OMG I can't believe I ate so much...Maybe the eating out thing is to much for me right now... Time will tell... With our lives right now we attend around 3 to 6 formal dinners every month.. I'll eat at those the are free.....

I have been ordering a soup and an appetizer when I go out, no need to explain I have a lap band, just that I don't have a big appetite if any one asks. I have never asked once to see a kids menu, its generally fried stuff anyway, and have not had any problems just ordering the soup and appetizer.

When nothing appeals to me, I get an entree with no fries, rice, potato etc, just extra veggies and take most of it home.

My doc put it this way: Technically, we now have a disability (small pouch) and it is illegal for them to deny us the right to order off of the children's menu. I don't know how accurate that is, but I think it would make a manager think before saying no.

Also, what happened to always trying to please the customer and "the customer is always right"? Personally, I think it is a bunch of crap that they wouldn't let you order off of the kid's menu. I would definitely write a complaint letter.

I have only used the card 2 t imes. I didn't have a problem either time. One time I used it at IHOP and the other time I used it at a local family owned restaurant. I thought that I was going to have problems with the family owned restaurant, but they had no problem with it.

I find it easier, tastier and cheaper to eat off of others plates anyway when I go out.

If we go out to eat with family theres 10-15 poeple there.. a bite from each persons plate and I have my own buffet!

Sometimes I just get an appetizer, soup or an ala carte.

I do the same thing! I get to enjoy the great food and our bill is usually way less.

I don't think I will EVER whip out that lapband card to show anyone. I will order from the regular menu and immediatly ask for a to go box. That's probably the best way to save your face. Too bad that they couldn't accomodate you though.

THANKS a lot!!! I was wondering after reading this why my doc didnt give me one but thanks ;)

Your very welcome! I LOVE your quote in your signature.

I had to send it to some of my best friends!

I like the idea of being able to order off of the kids' menu, but most of that stuff has no quality or taste to it or it's all fried kid-style. But I agree that it's so ridiculous. What is the difference if you order a $6 kid's item, a $6 appetizer, or just say you want to have a coke only?

It is unfortunate that the restaurant didn't respect the request, but as other posters have said, frequently the food isn't as healthy. I would be inclined to order the regular size and have them box what I don't eat. DH has been benefitting from this approach - he gets an already prepared lunch or dinner for the next day.

Hi all

Was just wondering where you get the WLS card to present to restaurants????
