Liquid diet=Bad breath???

Hi everyone, I am due to be banded on wednesday the 30th and I am almost 6 days on full liquids and I noticed yesterday evening that I was having bad breath. It is like the "ketosis breath" from adkins. That is what I think it is, has anyone else had this too? Does it continue after you are banded? This is horrible. I brush and swish and it comes back! OK just wondering, thanks for any replies!:thumbup:

Hi!

Yes, actually this is a normal process that happens when you do low carb and high Protein diets. When your body goes into ketosis this is released in the breath, thus the bad smell to the breath. This is good though! At least you know your body is burning the fat it needs. Having stinky breath is an unpleasant side effect though. You could try rinsing your mouth with Water frequently and see if keeping your mouth moist helps.

Good luck to you!

I am glad to here someone else has that bad breath. I noticed it too. I will be glad when the liquids are over. My surgery date is August 1st.

Drink some orange juice this will stop it ...pls it so yuck my dh stays on low carb and it smells like a dead rat in there when he's in ketosis it also make your skin smell...I make him get out of it sometimes
