Terrible shoulder pain

Hi there,

I was banded on Saturday for the first time and am suffering terrible shoulder pain in my left shoulder. Is this normal? Is there anything I can take for it this early on?

Any answers much appreciated.

thanks,

Lesley

Hi Lesley, yes this is normal, it's the gas from the sugery used to inflate the abdomen. Best cure is to walk, walk, walk.....then walk somemore. Or at least as much as your body will let you.

Lots of walking and Gas X. Some here like the Gas X strips.

thank you so much, I'm going to take myself for a walk right now! Really appreciate the answer.

Yep, it's gas. Your doctor probably sent you home with some pain medication. You can try that but the best thing you can do is walk, walk, walk. It only lasts a couple of days. Congratulations on the first step toward your new life! Best of luck to you.

Yes, the shoulder pain from the gas hurt worse than anything else and hurt until around week three for me. A heating pad helped ease it some!

Ditto..gas. I was banded 7/10 and I still have some pain. The pain meds help, heating pad works wonders, but the best if walking and resting when you're able. I use the CVS bran gas-x and just picked up the CVS brand Phazyme - doesn't seem to do any better than the Gas-x.

thanks so much everyone. I've just been for a walk which really helped. Sadly our drugstores in the UK really aren't as good as the US - I could really do with a CVS right now!

thanks everyone!
