I have filed my paperwork to use Georgetown as well. I haven't had the procedure yet, but if you'd like a buddy going through the same thing too, I'm here.

Yes, I would ,

I sent my papers in about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything, how long has it been for you? I am anxious, I think they are holding a seminar next month in my area. I have been to King's Daughter's seminar and even went for the consult with one of the doctors there but after meeting both (at different times) I really did not like either one of them. They made me feel uncomfortable, more like herding cattle.

Would love to hear from you and your journey.

My journey has been almost 3 months now and still no appointment. I know they were getting inconsistent information from my insurance company, and so that is probably slowing things down.

Anyways... I went to their seminar in Someset on May 2nd and sent my paperwork in on May 5th. I'm still waiting.

I would love for us to be buddies through this. My e-mail is mom4sadie@hotmail.com

Look forward to hearing from you.:biggrin2:

Hi! I just want to tell you not to give up. I waited over 4 months because the insurance company took so long. They kept saying they were not receiving all of the information they needed and my doctors office said they were sending it. But finally after it was approved, I got my appointment just two weeks after that. I just had my surgery on July 10. Just hang in there and keep calling and bugging them

I started my journey in Jan. 08. I was just banded on July 18th. It was a long process and time consuming. :) I'm actually having a hard time with the liquid diet. I just can't find food that I like.

Did you mean 4 months to get the initial first appointment or the surgical appointment? I am still waiting on the first initial appointment. I've been waiting on a call for a week... and i filed my paperwork 3 months ago. I really liked Georgetown and don't want to switch. But I have to admit. I'm getting discouraged. Thanks for sharing. Did you use Georgetown?

I went to Holzer Clinic in Gallapolis, OH. I called the clinic in Jan. to ask them about having it done there and they asked me some initial questions over the phone and said I met the criteria to have it done. I had my first initial appointment Feb. 20, and from there it took until late June for the insurance company to give an approval. I got really discouraged too, and actually I was ready to give up on having it done at Holzer if I didn't get an approval by the end of the week that week and trying somewhere else to see if it would go through faster. My co-worker had it done at St. Mary's in Huntington, and her process went through really fast....we have the exact same insurance. I guess it just depends on a lot of factors, one case can go through smoothly and another takes forever. My advice is to keep calling the insurance company (every day) and also the Dr.'s office and ask them if they've heard anything yet; that's what I did. I know it's discouraging but hang in there, okay? Peggy

Hi all - I'm not from Eastern KY, but I thought I'd drop in and say "hey" since it's good to hear other KY voices. I'm from So-central KY and had my surgery on Jul. 10. Hang in there, keep chipping away at the insurance co, and it will come through.

I could not stand the liquid diet either. The only good thing that I can say is that some weight came off...unfortunately, some of it was hair loss. So, learn from my mistake...even if it's nasty keep up the Protein intake!!!! :smile2:

Hi! I am from Maysville KY and was banded in Lexington KY on May 23rd by Dr. Weiss. I was seen in the Georgetown office, however, I had my surgery at Central Baptist. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me and I will try to help you.

I am from E. KY live in Lex now. I am assigned to Dr. Oldham. Haven't met him yet. The seminar, Dr. Weiss did. Do u know anything about Dr. Oldham? I am having to submit more MD progress notes to ins tomorrow. the 21st will be 3 weeks sinc I submitted my paperwork.

I am wondering about the doctors, I have heard only good things about them but I also know they do surgery at Central Baptist, Georgetown, Hazard and I think someone said another place. Maybe they are stretching themselves to thin and that may be part of the delay too. Of the people that has already done this; what kind of pre-op things you need to do before surgery.

I have not heard anything negative about Dr. Oldham. I never got to meet him. By your name, I would guess you are a nurse. I also am a nurse, small world.

I finally got my call last night from Georgetown and today I got my e-mail with my first appointment. I go August 13th. The lady said my insurance company had given them the run around. Anyways... I'm a little excited and a whole lot of nervous.

She told me some stuff I needed to get ready to bring with me, so I'll have to schedule a Dr's appointment to get some of it. But anyways, it is going... Only took 12 weeks to take the first step! Now if I can get enough stuff to bypass the 6 month diet thing.. which I probably won't be able to :wink2:, but a girl could hope.. then maybe this will move along a little faster.

My doctor recommended Dr. Weiss but said Dr. Oldham was good too. I have talked to two ladies on this site that used Dr. Oldham and loved him. It is my understanding that both of them are in the operating room with you... So I don't know. I guess maybe one is the lead and one the assistant and they take turns.... who knows.

Everyone please stay in touch. I am pretty much going through this alone. I do have my family, but we are trying to keep it quiet at work and none of my friends know either... so I feel really alone... it is nice knowing you all are here and going through it too. TTYL
