im in the same boat the way i was told i have to reply to aetna and get rejected then i submit to wifes personal choice i heard it can be hours or up to 2 weeks

I was approved in 24 hours.

When I met w/ the surgical center that I had chosen, they scheduled my band date for approx 2 months after my orientation. My doctor referral took a little longer than anticipated and my surgery got pushed back a few more weeks. Went in for orientation on 4/2/08. Original band date was 6/2/08. Actual surgery date is 6/30/08. All in all, I felt a good time frame for me to get all my ducks in a row.

Good luck!! ~ Tai

Check your insurance company's handbook they may have a website with that online, I have Independent Health and the policy for my plan says that the decision will be made within two business days of receiving the request from the doctor.

I have an appoinment on July 1 and the will get a follow up call from me on July 7th if they don't meet that service level agreed to in the contract.

It took 30 days for me to get an answer from Cinga PPO. They denied me. And then I appealed it and was approved 2 weeks later.

Good Luck

I have United Healthcare as well! I'm glad to hear that they responded so quickly. That's what I've heard from the surgical group that I am using!
