First Fill Questions?

I haven't had a fill yet, but I'm scheduled for the 3rd of July. I'm concerned b/c I'm not sure where my port is exactly. Is it supposed to be directly under the largest incision? Do they put the needle through the incision for the fill?

When I lay down the port incision is above my rib cage and I can't seem to palpate the port easily? Someone out there who has had a fill and can explain how it goes the first time?

I got my first fill on Monday and it was so cool! I was on a table with an xray thingy above it. Dr. Malley came in and put on some lead gear, had me lay on the table, and turned on the xray to see my band placement first since I got my band done in Mexico, he showed it to me and told me I have excellent placement. He then showed me the port and tubing. That looked cool! Then he put his hand on my stomach with my port between his fingers, then I watched on the xray as the needle went into my port. It didn't hurt and I didn't have to shimmy with a needle sticking in my tummy. He put in 1.25 cc in my 4cc band. After my fill, he had me drink water to make sure I could swallow. I find I am not hungry so far at all, and can only eat half of what I was eating before the fill before feeling pressure.

I just got my first fill today and it was not painful at all!!! MY nurse practioner did it and she is VERY good giving fills because she does so many. I ended up with 4cc's in my 9cc band...She had me drink Water and pay attention to any feeling or tightness. At about 3cc's or so, I burped! Too funny....I am now on Clear Liquids until earliest Friday night then mushy...or maybe Sat...I'll see how I feel. I'm heading up to our cabin in the mountains so I hope I don't have any problems!!! I can't decide if we should leave today or in the morning but I will pack and if I feel good, we'll go. I won't have internet so I'll catch you all when I get home Monday.

It will be nice to be out of this 113 degree heat and in the cooler pines (Pinetop, AZ)

Happy 4th of July Holiday! Shelley

I had my 1st fill today (banded on May 19th) and I got 3cc's in and at dinner tonight I felt very little restrictions...bummer....I'm just impatient and want this thing to work right now and lose weight now! Ha Ha!

Not painful at all by the way!

OH! And my surgeon/doctor told me that after my next fill on July 30th he is leaving and moving to Washington State. So sad! At least I've met and like his partner that will take over my case.

I too had my first fill yesteray and I feel I have no restriction either..

Will go back in 4 weeks and maybe they will bump it up and I will have better restriction...

TDR; where did you get your shrinko de mayo sombero? I am a true shrinko de mayo being banded on 5/5/05?

Anyone??? Shrinko de May Sombero? Where? LOL

I had my 2nd fill 2 weeks ago. I feel a LOT of restriction now and food is frequently getting stuck. The good news is that the scale has started to move!! I know that most of the problem is that I need to change my bad habits!!! It's truly a learning experience!!!
