Port question

Right now I am doing some research on the Lap band. I am diabetic and have an appointment in August at the Cleveland Clinic to explore a few options. Anyhow ..........is the port for the fill outside or under the skin and how does it affect a person, bathing, swimming, etc. ?

The port is placed underneath the muscle. Mine is on my left hand side upper abdomen. You can not see it and its easy to access. You can bath and swim fine since it is under the skin.
