Why Do People Have to be So Mean...

Okay - I have to rant! I had a day from hell at work today. My ex-boss works with me now. She is no longer my supervisor, but believes she is. She is literally a thorn in everyones side and is a two-faced, backstabbing, hypocondriac that believes she is above everyone else. Well, there is my opinion of her...now what she did today, set me over the edge.

In the past she has made smart-ass comments about my weight, looked at the food (if it wasn't light or lean cuisine) and make comments like, "should you be eating that?". I am so rebelious - I'd eat it just to spite her, she'd P me off so bad. I wore a pair of heeled sandals to work last week - she told me they were inappropriate because they clanked...sandals clank! Then the pair of pants I wore another day made a "swishing" noise. She commented on that...I'm now rambling...SO MAD,...

I was out of work yesterday with a major migraine headache. Rather than coming in and asking how I was, she said, "I noticed you are out a lot on Mondays - what are you doing with your weekends." I told her I wasn't out on Mondays and she was wrong. I sat at my desk and vented and let my blood boil until I decided I couldn't take her crap anymore. I checked the calendar and proceeded to walk to her desk and told her I was out last February with the FLU on a Thursday and worked the rest of the week." That was the last time other than my surgery I was out sick. She said, "It affects us all when you aren't here."....I responded, "So does the dozens of doctor's appointments you go to." The woman is a hypocondriac. She thinks she knows everything and if you sneeze she'll diagnose you. It drives me nutz! I told her it would have been nice of her to check on me instead of making smart-ass comments. She then proceeded to follow me to the break room. I asked her why she was so mean. She responded, "Because I can be.". She is 50 something years old and really has a bad Napolean Complex, that sounds like something my 8 year old would say. I said "that's really Nice, Thanks a Lot." She said "You're Welcome." WTH??? Lets just say a lot more words were said and as she ran back to her desk - seeing she lost the battle - I shouted to her retreating back, "It was none of her damn business anyway."

Ohhhh I am still upset. I was RED and crying and completely out of breath for at least 30 minutes afterwards. I hate when I cry - especially in anger. This is the first time in six years I have stood up to her! My emotions are all over the place. I'm not going to take her crap anymore, however I don't want to get fired, I need my job.

Should I report her and her bitchy attitude? I think it was completely inappropriate.

Irene - I love the killin' 'em with kindness approach. I came in this morning and sweetly smiled and said good morning. She just looked at me. I said again, "Good morning, Pa***". She looked again and said, "morning". She has been shooting me with daggers today and been really short. I've been sweet as can be. I smile and just think "bi***". I'll defend myself again, but I'm not putting up with her crap. She will not get to me and now knows she will not.

That's right! I mean, what is she going to say in retort -- "She's being too nice..." Um, yeah. That's pretty much how I've been handling my situation and let me tell you, it works. I can see the anger, but don't let it fester to you! You can't make her problems your own.

First of all I would like to say- What a bitch!

Second I would kill her with kindness, as Littlemiss says. Record every instance with dates. Report her derogatory remarks, after you make an effort to speak with her about them. Tell her how they are effecting you. Even if she obviously won't improve (Because I can!) but atleast you can say that you made the effort to approach her.

Good luck. I think we have all worked with an evil bitch at one time or another.

Right now I work with almost all men, because the woman are upstairs. I hear the men gossiping about each other too, but it's nothing compared to the woman upstairs. Woman can just be vicious to other woman they work with, I don't get it myself.

Heck, if someone was asking me if I should eat something, I'd probably take it to an extreme just to show the person how rediculous they are.

I'd go up to her first thing in the morning, and say, "I know how concerned you are about my health, and I just wanted to thank you. I had ____ and _____ for breakfast. Is that acceptable to you?" I'd do the same thing every single time I put anything in my mouth. "Oh co-worker, I just had a drink of water. Is that acceptable to you?" "I'll call you tonight to tell you what I had for dinner, since I know you are so concerned about my health."

Trust me, after a while, she'll get tired of it, and will never mention food to you again.

Today - we have a good relationship - SILENCE. Not a word. I haven't said a word to her nor she to I. I'm not avoiding her, by any means, but really have nothing to say to her, so why waste my breath. I'm still friendly - doing the kindness thing, but have been having some evil thoughts.

I should wear my clanky shoes and swishing pants tomorrow (at the same time) - of course I can't eat it, but I should go through BK and order a LARGE WHOPPER with X-LARGE FRIES and X-LARGE coke, hell, I'll get a dessert pie too...slowly walk it by and just smile...Can you tell I'm still bitter? I can give the food away to people in the office. The guy that works in front of me would eat it (though he doesn't need to)...hehehe - I'm evil, I know. I'm trying to be the bigger person though (forgive the pun).

I'm glad things are working out for you. You probably freaked her so much by standing up for yourself! Wouldn't hurt to keep track of the stupid stuff she does or says to you but if she staying out of you way now that's the best gift she could give you besides quitting! Good luck! brandyII.

Oh My Goodness~ Yes report her. She is not only mean but not even in a position to speak to anyone that way! Go strait to your HR department if you have one. ASAP! Before she goes to them. She is not professional and aids in making your work environment along with everyone else an unpleasant place to be. (Throw in what effects the workflow!)

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted.

Oh ya I like that idea! Kill her with kindness to her face and report her behind her back! YES!

PS- Good for you for standing up for yourself. Keep it going!

Oh yeah if she has a complaint about an article of clothing making noise, tell her that her mouth makes such an intolerable "yapping" noise.

ROTFLMAO!!!!! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!:blushing:

I'd start documenting. Only record the important stuff, issues that are seriously inappropriate. Issues regarding your weight, clothing sounds, that sort of thing. If she does something that just annoys the crap out of you but isn't technically inappropriate in a work setting don't include that. Make a list, dates, times, what was said, was it said in front of someone, etc.

Not only will that give you time to decide how you want to handle it, it will also afford you the opportunity of organization and that will show you really mean business here.

I wouldn't go getting coworkers to gang up on her with you to go to Mgmt, that will make you look bad. You don't need the support of your coworkers, what is happening is inappropriate.

Do you have an obese supervisor? That's who I'd go to, they'll understand better than anyone.
