Nova Scotia

It's happened! While browsing the before and afters, Dan said to me: "Maybe I should give the lapband a try."

I'm sure I've heard of Nova Scotians having it covered (even just the surgery, not the band itself?), but is it only with Dr. Beausoleil, and you must wait years? Or can you go to a private clinic and have it paid for?

Please someone's gotta know?

Thanks in advance,

Mandi

Hey Sherry I would love to call you, send your number and I will call you after lunch, if that will be a good time for you. Thanks .

After the age 55 Dr. B will only do gastric banding. He will only do RNY if your bmi is 60 or higher and you are 55 or younger.

when I was talking to the secertary I asked her if they have an age where they don't do the band and she told me they did one on a lady just over 70. Now i believe she ment the band because that is what I was asking about. what does WLS, RNY, and bim I think is the body fat you need to lose right?

Hi there .. yes 4,500 is well worth it for sure .. And If I had to borrow the whole thing I will .. I am sick of sitting on the bed looking at the fat clothes I have that dont fit me ... sick to death of it! And since Iam 53 I guess I just make it  And walking past a mirror and seeing a shadow case me , and finding out its my arse !!!:) Annie

Pearl, if you want to calculate your BMI, go to weightlosssurgery.com and you will be on Dr. N. Cristeau's site. That is who trained Dr.B. and he follows Dr. Cristeau's methods fairly close. The booklet you get from Dr. B suggests you go to this site. On this site you will see a section that says "calculate your BMI' all you do is click on that and enter your height and weight and it will tell you your BMI. Your type of surgery will be based on you age and your bmi. Over 55 BMI 60

BMI means your body mass index. This is what your percentage of fat is based on. Unfortunately, this really is not real accurate because if you were a body builder with less than 10% body fat full of muscles and weighted 250 pounds, your bmi would say that you was overweight when we know that you aren't. BMI makes no allowence for bone structure or muscle mass so it is inaccurate. It is based soley on height, weight, gender and age.
