Brand Names Folks

Howdy Folks!

SO! I am approved (WOOHHOO) and terrified and excited and on cloud nine and my nerves are all over the place and I am hoping to survive until my surgery date.

I have been waiting as patiently as is possible for me and now that it is really on, I would love to hear from you guys and girls about what brand of band you are choosing and why.

Please pull no punches and tell me what you think… will you give me your thoughts?!

I have an Inamed/Allergan, the brand name is "Lap-Band" (they own that name, which is why it's generically called AGB). It was the band my surgeon of choice used.

My surgeon is using the Lap Band right now, but should also be offering the Realize by the time I am ready for surgery. He said I will be given the choice of which to get, but that there really isn't any difference. I am thinking I will go with the Realize simply because it has what he referred to as a "low profile port". He said it is flatter and easier to access.

I walked out of my last appointment with the website for Realize and a pamplet for the Lap Band.

I like the low profile port and that really seems to be the thing that divides the two.

My doc hasn't mentioned anything about being concerned with my anatomy effecting the band I choose and I'm fairly certain she'll do what is best, if my choice does not work out with my body.

Thank you guys for replying, it is nice to hear from others with first hand experience.

:crying:
