WooHoo!

I am going to be self paying.. and I got the call today that my loan has been approved! I am so excited. I have been fighting my insurance company for months and months - and I got sick of it. It took 2 days to get the approval from the bank about the loan. :rolleyes2:

So Ive made some calls - and I have arranged for Dr. Ariel Ortiz to do my surgery. I have to set my date - but I am 'ON MY WAY'!!!

I guess the next phase is to start my diet. I was told to lose atleast 5% of my body weight. Which is about 14lbs.

What did everyone do to lose the weight before surgery?

I am new to all this - researching I guess you could say - but why does one have to lose weight BEFORE surgery? :confused2:

Exciting! Congratulations!

I lost my 5% over a couple of months during the time I was getting all of my pre-surgical testing out of the way. I would just take it easy with food during the week. I also didn't want to lose too much too quickly out of fear of regaining before the surgery date.

I did have "one last meal," that turned into a weekend binge. I'm up two pounds and have until April 30 to lose that. Easy enough -- as long as I remember to tell myself that I've already had that "one last meal."

Drink lots of Water, take small bites, get your Protein in, start practicing for the way you'll be eating after surgery and you should be able to lose the weight in time for your surgery.

Good luck!

-Christine

Congratulations on getting your loan approved for your surgery! Would you be so kind as to tell me who you went through for your loan and what terms they offer? Do they offer fixed loans, or is it a credit card, or line of credit?

Thanks,

Melissa:rolleyes2:

Oh wow! My good friend used Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana and LOVED him. Her results were wonderful. The hospital, she said, was clean and the staff was so much more attentive than in US hospitals. She said Dr. Ortiz even visited with her and her husband for 45 minutes after the surgery. She could not say enough nice things about him. I think you made a great choice!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
