Pre-op Prep

What sort of preparations did you have to go through the day/night before surgery? I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow and will ask about specifics, but looking at his generalised list, it's looking most, uh, unpleasant (to put it mildly).

I can understand the need for complete lower intestinal cleansing for gastric bypass, but why for banding as well?

Guess I'll be stocking up on the Charmin and trashy magazines :)

I was on liquids 10 days or 2 weeks pre-op. No need for the yucky colon cleansing the day before surgery.

Good luck.

Sue

I just received my list of things to do. I am on a pre op diet for over 4 weeks of 5 medifast a day.

3 days before surgery Medifast, antibacterial shower with dial or Leaver 2000, 2 tbsp of Milk of Magnesia at 7pm, and Fleet Enema at 7pm.

2 days before surgery repeat

1 day before repeat everything except no medifast, only Clear Liquids.

I didn't have to do anything the night before surgery...just no liquids or anything to eat after midnight.

The morning of surgery I woke up and went and got a mani/pedi to relax before going to the hospital.
