What happened? Advice Please

I was banded 2-25-08 all has been progressing nicely until the last few days.

I got this "virus" that is going around and have been "hacking" up a lung literally, the regular doctor says rest, liquids, formula 44 for cough and congestion, I have hacked so much that my chest is sore, back is sore and now I feel SUPER tight, liquids only tight, did I do damage to my band or just irritate my stomach/band from all the violent coughing and hacking, I love my band I don't want to lose it!

Thanks

Were you throwing up or just coughing really hard ?

If you did not throw up a lot your probably ok . I can see the band becoming tight from the coughing , I would call your band doc and let him know what is going on . Anytime I get sick , have health issues, i call my band doc and let him know what is going on . General Practionars do not know enough about bands to know when they need to be unfilled and when they dont. If you ever start throwing up from a virus you need to call your band doc ASAP .

But as a general rule i call my band doc if im ill with something . (Not colds ect but something long lasting ect. )

didn't throw up but sure felt like I was going too...just violent coughing, I hate to bother him on Easter sunday I will stick with liquids and call him in the am

Easter Sunday or not , if your worried that's what you paid for . A doc is on call for a reason . Chances are they will listen to what you say , if its not a concern they will tell you to come in Monday to take a look . But I PROMISE you you will feel better for calling. You paid your surgeon for his services, its his job to take your calls when you have issues! Its not a bother !

I just spend 5 hours with my husband in the emergency room because he was coughing violently, ends up he has pneumonia. he also thought it was just the bug that was going around. get yourself checked out.

I have been coughing so much, I almost can't take it anymore. At least now I am "hacking" it up. Is it okay to take a cough elixir do you think?

Any kind of Medical question needs to be asked to your doctor.

Docs all have different advice when it comes to the band , my personal opinion the boards are not the place to be asking those questions.. Call your doc

I went to the doc she said cough syrup, my inhaler(I have asthma) and water and rest, she said it would take 7 days or so to start to feel better..so I was checked out..

Sounds like a flu or something ? I hope your feeling well Soon .

Take care of yourself.
