pre op liquid diet & veggies? Hate V-8,YUCK!

My 10 preop diet of liquid only says I need to drink V-8 juice, regular only no Splash varieties. I tried it today & OMG it is so GROSS! Tastes like bad tomato soup that has an entire can of salt dumped into it. I cant do it! Any other ideas on getting in veggies during liquid phases? I even tried plugging my nose & gulping it down & it almost came back up. I know after surgery I cant even do that since we cant gulp stuff down, so what can I do?

You might want to try the low sodium V-8 before you give up on it. I can't deal with the regular stuff because of the salt content. But there are plenty of varieties now. Spicy, low sodium. Try a few more before you really give up on the V-8 ... If those don't work call the nutritionist (or your surgeon) and find out if there is an alternative you can try instead. Explain that it is making you ill and that chucking it back up is a bit counterproductive to getting your daily veggie servings.

no doubt! 2 weeks of atkins shakes, and 2 days of clear liquids before my surgery on the 21st! Yes, the v8 is horrible. Good luck finding something good the docs will allow:frown:.

Can you buy a juicer and make your own juice? Most of the juicer receipes taste good if you add an apple to them.

Check online for receipes first and then consider a juicer. You can use it after the surgery to get your veggies and Fiber in as well.

Regular V-8 has way too much salt for me, too but I don't mind the low sodium one.

Maybe you could find a used juicer on e-bay?
