Hello

Hello everyone!

I just found this site last week. I am thinking about getting the band done. I am going to the information seminar on the 20th of this month. Since I am totally new to this, could someone explain what the whole process of getting this done is. Do you have to see a dietician for a while before surgery? Do you have to be on a liquid diet before having the procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance:smile2:

hi, welcome to LBT!

what is done pre-op depends on the surgeon and every surgeon is different. some people need pre-op diets and visits with a dietician, others dont.

good luck!

queene - welcome!

there is just *so* much information out there that there's no way to give you a run down. The info sessions will outline all of it for you.

Good luck!

Each Dr. has their own set of directions for you to follow. Have you contacted your ins co. to ask if your policy covers weight loss surgery? And ask their requirements? Some require a 6 month supervised diet before approval. Many require a minimum BMI of 35 and two co-morbidities ( like diabetes or sleep apnea, HBP etc) or a BMI of 40 and no co-morbidities. Others want doucmentation of previous attempts to lose weight or documentaton of your weight history over five years.

If you call them they can explan what your policy requires.

Read as much as you can on the forum and then you'll know waht to ask the surgeon.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.
