A new medical issue for me.

I've mentioned in passing how I've been experiencing a "marathon period" for the last several weeks. I just figured it's due to being perimenpausal. I've even joked that it's like the grand finale at the fireworks show. :)

Today I had my annual gynecological exam and it appears that there is a "growth" or "mass" in my vagina. I'll see a GYN specialist next Thursday. The nurse practitioner who did today's exam said she'd never seen anything like it. She mentioned that I could end up getting a hysterectomy.

The "C" word was never mentioned and there's no point in speculating. I'll be happy if an operation is all I need. Of course, the first question that crossed my mind is, how much weight will I lose? :grouphug:

I have a tentative appointment for April 1 at 8 a.m. at MD Anderson in Houston. I was told to expect to stay five to seven days for testing and possible treatment. I don't know if any of this will be as an inpatient. I'll stay with my mother. This could change if the final pathology report varies from the preliminary report.

Thanks again, y'all! :cheers2:

I remember the first day well at MDA with my sister. We spent the entire day trying not to be late for her next appt. They cover alot of ground in a short period of time that you are there, and that is good - it allows you to 'get on with it' , whatever 'it' ends up being.

Please remember the offers you have had for help - don't try to do this alone.

What a doll bandpal is . . . I love the song and think the nurses at MDA will love it too when you hang it on your wall there. It is going to put a smile on the face of all who come into your room. That is awesome bandpal!
