Irregular bowel movements pre-op

Has anyone had problems with irregular (going from constipation to diarrhea) bowel movements pre-op that got worse or did not improve after surgery. I have always been irregular no matter what I eat, whether I'm taking laxatives, etc. I seem to go from one extreme to the other and I'm just wondering if I have the surgery then will it get worse, stay the same or get better?

That's really an unknown - maybe something you should talk to your doctor about - I was pretty regular prior to surgery - but right after had diarrhea for a couple of weeks - now 7 months out - it can vary - but less food in means less food out - so don't go everyday like i use to.. A lot of people use some sort of extra Fiber - like benefiber etc - I just got some fiber Cookies yesterday Metmucil - take your fiber - drink your Water - exercise and it should all come out in the end (pun intended :cursing:)

That was funny...Thanks. I have talked to my doctor in the past and he just looked at me like I was CRAZY!!! but that was long before I ever even thought about surgery.--Thanks, I will ask my surgeon.
