Mr. McEwen, Fishers, Indiana

I've been lurking for over a year trying to decide if the band is for me. I've finally made an appointment with Dr. McEwen in Fishers, IN, but I sure don't see many of his patients posting here or on OH. I'd love to know how some of his patients are doing. Any Dr. McEwen patients out there?

Thanks!

Well, you found one! I was banded last week by Dr. McEwen and I'm very happy! His staff is wonderful, friendly and supportive. The surgery went well and since my first appointment about 1 1/2 months ago, I've lost 30 lbs.

Dr. McEwen's office is about 2 miles from my home - so the convenience is definately a factor. But I've been very pleased with him in all ways. He's very laid back and friendly and knows a lot about the band. From reading the posts on these forums - I can already tell that my doctor spoils me! I've gotten tons of information, have a close local support group, and a WONDERFUL surgery center.

Let me know if you have questions!

:) my surgeon also...private payer....love it. would not trade Dr MCEwen and his staff for the world. Sorry just been busy lately....with less weight...more energy...less time on the computer..more time with the kids and sport. I can say that DR KEITH MCEWEN saved my life with the lap band in INDIANA!

I totally agree that if you want a no frills doc, that will be honest, caring and supportive....this is your man. he and his staff are wonderful....I look forward to seeing him each month. The surgery center they are associated with is also excellent....You will not be sorry by choosing him.....

best of Luck

CindyLou & Traci,

Well hi! I haven't found many Dr. McEwen patients out here so it is nice to see some fellow Hoosiers! I'm so glad to see that you had similar experiences to mine. Dr. M is delightful, his office staff are quickly becoming my friends, and the surgery center staff - good grief, I felt like I'd gone there for a spa treatment instead of for surgery!

Happy to see you've both been successful. Perhaps we will meet up at support group some time.

I am also a patient of Dr McEwen. Everything that has been posted previously about Dr McEwen and his staff couldn't be more accurate. I feel almost like every step of this process has just been perfectly placed in front of me. Everyone on here feels like they have a personal relationship with their office, and I feel the same. I am due to be banded on April 3rd, and I know this is the best decision I could ever make. I constantly read posts from patients who say, "I just had surgery, and I don't know what to eat." I mean, are you kidding me? Did their doctors really not tell them what they could and could not eat? When I met with him this week, he said lap band on average helps you lose 50% of your excess bodyweight. His office averages over 70% and he feels the support they offer is the biggest reason. Ultimately, you have to have a comfort level, if you don't then you should look for someone who can provide that for you. For me, I knew I had that from him before I ever knew this board existed.
