Left shoulder pain??

I just got banded on 2/6/08 and I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my left shoulder! My surgeon said that it has to do with my diaphram and how it distributes the pain, plus the fact that our bellies get filled with CO2 during surgery. Has anyone else been experiencing this strange pain? Have you found anything that helps it go away??

Lily :confused2:

Belinda,

It's my understanding that this left shoulder pain is phrenic nerve pain and is caused by some part of the band brushing on the diaphragm. I've had it constantly since the day of surgery but it's gotten worse this past week or so to the point where I can't find a comfortable position without pain. I have an appointment on Tuesday to discuss the problem with my surgeon.

.

thank you so much for this information! I am going to give my surgeon a call on Monday morning.

good luck with your doctors appointment too!

Take care,

Belinda

Hello all, I just got banded on December 17th, and I am still experiencing quite a bit of pain. I have pain that comes and goes in my left shoulder, pain around the incision, but the one that worries me the most is when I breathe deeply. When I breathe deeply I feel the pain in my shoulder and around my incision site and I was just wondering if this can be considered normal? I have not yet tried putting heat on my shoulder but that's next. I also am an asthmatic and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. I currently have a call in to my doctor but I was wondering if anyone else had any of these problems and if anyone can please give me advice on how to deal with it!! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
