Saltine Crackers??????????

Hi....

I am exactly three weeks post-op. I have a question that I need a FAST answer to. I heard the rule with the mushie phase is anything you would give to a 6 month to 1 year child. Does that include saltines? I was hoping...YES! You know, it turns to almost nothing when you put it in your mouth!

Thoughts?????

I think a cracker might be a little dry. The mushie stage is just that, wet and mushie. It needs to slide through easy, and also easily digested. A cracker might turn pasty in your stomach and cause you to work harder to digest it. I'd wait.

sugar free puddings, sugar free jellos, protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, clear broth. Believe me, there's a good reason for sticking to it. Try really hard and I know how you feel. You'll be able to eat soon enough.

I'm two weeks out and my doctor told me I could have crackers aven during this soft phase-but I had to chew, chew, chew!

Hi there

I have eaten crackers with NO problems. Once they are in your mouth - they get extremely mushy. I was fine - I would think you should be too. I am just 2 1/2 weeks out -

I put them in my soups. I am almost 3wks post op. I just tried them with crab and tuna salad and as long as I chewed well it was ok. Good luck.

when in doubt ask YOUR Doc .

I have problems with crackers sometimes now because they do have a tendency to turn pasty and gummy once they go down .

So I would not try it with out clearing it with your doc first. I dont think , if i remeber right I was allowed crackers until the "semi Solid "stage
