Liquid Diet Rant

I am on day 2 of my 11 day liquid diet and let me tell you that I think I am going mad! I hate it and it seems to me that everyone around me is eating constantly. I am watching Letterman right now and he has a comic on that is doing his whole stand up bit on bacon. Ahhhhhhhhhh I will be so glad once I can move to the clear liquid stage at least I will be able to have SF jello at least I will feel like I am eating something. 9 more long days to go. I have been drinking slimfast with added protein powder and as of right now I am really starting to hate the chocolate flavor. I was never a big fan of chocolate so it is a bit much for me. The only thing that sucks is chocolate slimfast is the only one I can stand. I think I am going to go buy some carnation instant breakfast, boost or ensure tomorrow for something different. I have been eating chicken broth for dinner so thats something different. My family had pepperoni pizza for dinner tonight and I had to do everything in my power not to eat a slice or 5! I know that it will all be worth it in the end, but is anyone else feeling like I am? Sorry for the long post!

I am on my 2 week pre-op optifast diet and my doctor wants 2 weeks optifast after the surgery. Yesterday durning the football games my mind kept telling me to just have something, but I kept from cheating and stayed with the optifast. My surgery is Thursday, I sure hope the hunger will leave me for a little while after surgery. I never knew there were so many advertisments with food on TV before. Who said this was the easy way out? They are full of S......

I agree.....there is nothing EASY about this.

It will be wonderful...I'm just ready to get past the first week post-op. Looking forward to the results, so every ounce of discomfort will be worth it in the end. Hang in there....let us know how it goes on Thursday!!

I've stopped watching tv. I can't stand the commercials all about food. So I fill my days doing something else. Read, watch DVDs, listen to music and write in my journal. Living with two teenagers is also really difficult because the microwave is constanty on and the smell of food is dancing under my nose, just like in the old time cartoons.

I also noticed that your doctors see you really soon after the operation. Mine won't see me for 6 weeks for my first fill. How do I know if the band slipped, would I be really sick, or just fine?

Fran

They should give you something in the hospital that says you have to get in to your doctor within 10 days to check your sutures, then the second appt is for the fill.
