Medicine

Could anyone tell me what medicine's are off limit for people who have lap bands. I hear so many different things....

ibuprofen and the like are off limits because they irritate the stomach. I am not sure of any others.

don't take demerol...and if you must make SURE you use the fenergan with it! throwing up will be the outcome...my doctor sent me home with this after my surgery and I threw up everytime I took it so after the first day post-op I went without pain medicine and delt with the pain!

NSAIDs, but not all docs agree with that thinking. It used to be thought NSAIDs caused erosion, now they know the problem is mostly for those on long term use or for those that it upsets their stomach anyway.

My doc permits Motrin type drugs if you take the liquid version and chase it with lots of Water.
