Help!

I just started my pre-op diet today which includes to myocel protien shakes per day. It tastes so gross to me. I even tried a couple of the recipes the doctors office recommended but it didn't help that much. I figured I would deal with the taste either way but the more I tried to drink it the more I felt nauseous. I am very picky and my stomach doesn't tolerate things that I think are gross. Any ideas or suggestions? I am really excited and I really want to do this right. :help:

hello my doctor recommended me the carnation instant breakfast it has the protien need to shrink your liver for the surgery and it tastes pretty good the chocolate that is

Well, my choice is Slim fast. Strawberry is terrific. I did not do the protein shakes like you. My doctor said SlimFast was ok. I heard Optifast is good too, though more expensive. Good luck with liquids, on this website there is a section listed as Food - there are recipies there for help. Good luck.

Aloha my friend

My DSW and I use the Premier Nutrition Protein shake (chocolate) They don't taste bad. DSW is kind of like you and the taste of things. So we put them in the frezer about 1-1.5 hours before we drink them. I think it's really good, we get them at costco. If your using the dry mix that you add to water, try skim milk, that's what Bev did till we found the shakes were using now. Good luck

Nadean, try whey protien it comes in many different flavors and with 8oz of milk you will get 25 grams of protien. I like the bananna the best and u can get it at GNC. Best if you use a blender to mix it and through in a couple of ice cubes, it really tastes good.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I just called the doctor's office because they were the ones that told me to take the myocel protein and she told me that the doctor is very particular about the protein you take so try to stick with that one. I hope I can figure it out.

Sorry to hear that. Will you have to use the same Protein shakes after surgery too? I used Pro Performance Whey Protein powder (chocolate caramel) and mixed it with skim milk. I found that is wasn't as lumpy and thick as some of the others I tried.
