What weight do you use?

There’s the weight on the surgeon’s office scale, the weight on the dietician’s scale, the weight on the scale of the exercise appointment, and the weight on my scale. None of them read the same. What do you all pay attention to the most or use for your stats? I’m so confused!

All the scales say something different, and it makes me crazy, too. I go by mine at home now. I weigh myself first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom, without any clothes, the same way every time. That’s the only number I track.

I had to self report my weight twice a month for the dietician. I actually haven’t met in person with anyone in my program yet and I won’t until my surgery date on September 4th. In the grand scheme of things I’m using the scale on surgery day as my ‘Before’ weight.

My doctors keep their records of my weight & I keep mine. Because I weigh less on mine (mostly because I weigh myself first thing in the morning before breakfast, without clothes & after popping) I usually just say on my scales I weighed X this morning. They still record what their scale says. Remember if you’ve lost 10lbs you will have lost 10lbs on every set of scales. Doesn’t matter what the weight actually reads.

PS - I used my GP’s weight to get approval for the referral for my surgery because it was higher than my weight on my scales (about 3lbs difference ). I wouldn’t have been approved otherwise. 😁

Since you may weigh under the same circumstances (same clothes, same time of day, etc.), most people just choose one scale and stick with it. This is typically the one at home. Scales used by doctors or clinics are useful for official documentation, but consistency is more important for monitoring progress than precise numbers. Seeing how your weight changes over time on the same scale is what reveals the true trend.
