Getting banded in 17 hours

Recommended Posts

I am getting banded tom at noon! I am so nervous I have been nauseaed all day, and if I had food to purge I do doubt would have done it by now! Is this normal? I feel like something is going to go very wrong. I am sad. I want to be excited. Anyone else?

There are a lot of you (December bandsters) out there, so believe me, you're not alone by any means!

My heartiest congratulations to you--it will all be over in a snap and soon you'll be home recuperating!! I was nervous out of my gourd, but come tomorrow morning, the day will just fly by for you!

I'm proud of all of you that are having surgery BEFORE the holiday season--because I'm sure there are many who postponed their surgery until "after the holidays".

Way to go!! :)

Try and relax a little. This is the best thing I've every done. My only wish is that I could have afforded it two years earlier (I was self-pay). The surgery does not take long at all. You'll be surprised how fast you get through it. And then your first couple of days may be a little rough (some rougher than others), but that won't last long either. Many people are able to go back to work the next week. I had mine on a Thursday and I was back to work on Tuesday. Granted I wasn't back to normal, but made it through without any complications.

Good luck and check back in with us when you get home.

I will be band on the 20th at 1:00pm and I was excited but now I'm wondering if I made the right decision and I'm scared and even feel like crying. I had to take a loan out on my house and I'm scared to death that something will go wrong say seven years from now and it will take me five years to pay for this operation. Anybody else feel this way? Or all these thoughts normal?

I'm right with you in getting banded. I go in to surgery at 1:30 if all goes well.

We had a girl quit at work today so I ended up working instead of getting things done at home and that helped to keep my mind off of it. Seems like the day got here so quick.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and I hope things will go smoothly for you tomorrow and we'll be back here announcing we're banded on Wednesday!

I know what you are feeling. I will be banded on January 24th and I am scared out of my mind. I am wondering how I will get through the 2 weeks pre-banding liquid diet as I am always hungry and cannot see that Slim Fast 3 times a day will satisfy me. I also had to take out a loan which will take me 5 years to pay off - I hope this will work for me.

I am being banded on 12-28-07. I also took out a loan as my insurance would not pay for the band. The date is getting here so quickly. On this Friday, I go for preop testing. Getting kinda nervous as well. With Christmas being so close, that is keeping me busy enough not to get too scared. But after Christmas, then what. I will more than likely be scared out of my mind. Good luck to all being banded this month and those thereafter.

I am getting banded in about 15 hours from now. I am nervous, but I know its the right thing todo. I have taken out an unsecured personal loan so not only do i gotta pay it back, i gotta do it quick before the high interest eats me up!

But when this works and i lose the weight, no price would be too high for that.

I was just banded 5 days ago and I have to tell you that what you are experiencing is normal. It is called anxiety and I had a ton of it. I almost walked out of the surgery center 3 times before they wheeled me back.

It is important to remember WHY you are getting banded. For me, it was to save my life in the long run. I have over 200 pounds to lose and if I did not do something soon, I was bound to die from obesity related diseases. It is 6 of one or a half dozen of the other. If you continue to live gaining more and more weight, then you can almost rest assured that things will go terribly wrong. You have to look at it as you are doing this to save your life. I wish you the best.

I will be in surgery tomorrow as well and begin to get nervous yesterday but I stoped and prayed and thought about how goo it will feel to perticipate in my 16 year old daughter and all of the activities at school without trying to hide my back side or my hips and stomach. I will be able to sit in a chair right and be able to finally cross my legs  so lets just encourage our self in the Lord and know that he will bring us out of surgery and recovery just fine. I will be praying for you as I send my prayers up in the morning.

God Bless

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
