Just got my date: December 27

Now I'm nervous. lol

Anyone mad like me & scheduled at the end of the month? Mine is happening 12/29, all going well!
Seems a strange time to put it, but I'm single & live alone. I usually spend the holidays feeling a little down, as all of my family/friends are coupled off & hibernating together. But this year I'm excited to use my time off to do something to change my life for the better.
I'm a little scared about travelling alone, but it won't be my first time by any means, so it's more the hospital stay that concerns me. Hoping I can meet some friendly folks doing our 'laps' around the wards [emoji16]
Me! I just got my date of Dec 27 today. I have kids, so I am kinda worried about being hangry with them the week before. I will miss all the yummy food, but I am ready to get this done. Good luck to us both.

Ohh Lisa I'm nervous now too, it's becoming very real!! ? The pre-op diet over the hols will be tough, but it means there's more years of holidays to enjoy in the future, I guess!

Very best of luck to you!

When do you start your liquid diet, if you start one? I am supposed to start on Monday, the 13th. I hate protein shakes and any sugar substitutes. So, that is the only thing I am really worried about. Going to the store to buy a bunch of soups to strain this weekend. I wish eggs and bacon were liquid. lol

Having Gastric Bypass with paraesopageal hernia repair on 12/16. Anyone else have the hernia repair with their surgery?

Scheduled for Dec. 22nd. My Birthday is Dec. 23rd! I'm not even sad about it!

My sister's birthday is the 22nd. :) Good luck on your surgery. Time is moving so fast now. What is your pre-op diet? Have you started it already?

Yes, 2 week liquid diet. Started on the 8th.

Hello. Jacquie here. Newbie. December 21 is my surgery date. Tomorrow I'm going full-on pre-surgical diet although I've only had Protein Bars for the past several days. I ordered a bunch of Protein Shakes and Vitamins that will be here tomorrow.
Unfortunately mine has not been the best of all possible experiences to date. My surgeon -- I really like him. Unfortunately, he has been in the process of splitting his practice with another surgeon, and he's also had some office turnover, so the brunt of scheduling all the labs and various medical clearance appointments...making sure my prescriptions have been dealt with...I feel like it's been a very D.I.Y. process, unfortunately. And subsequently I'm probably more afraid than I need to be.

My surgery in 12/29 as well. On Friday I receieved a letter from Kaiser titled, "crisis standards of care declared by Portland hospitals." While they haven't cancelled any procedures yet, they may need to reschedule if the hospital can't accommodate me due to high numbers of patient's. Ugh, I have been in the program for 1 1/2 years and ready for my new journey!

With that being said, I am hopeful and excited. I begin my 2 week liquid diet this coming Thursday and pray I do not become too crabby. Lol.

Best wishes

i don't start pre op diet until 3 days pre-surgery, so the 26th. Place I'm going say if your BMI is less than 50 - it's a 3 day pre op diet & above 50 is a 14 day pre op diet. Planning to stock up on broth! I heard there's a few nice ones. I also grabbed some clear protein powder to add to water ( I also hate the shake style protein! drives my stomach mad).

Maybe if you drink the eggs Rocky style it counts as liquids? ?

Ohhhh everything crossed that you go ahead on 29th! 1.5 years is a long wait. I hope the liquid stage won't be too hanger inducing lol. I'm super excited and hopeful for a whole new quality of life, too! we got this ?

Got the dreaded call again yesterday. Perhaps going to cancel me yet again. Surgery is slated for the 14th, they will let me know tomorrow the 13th. They're making it hard for me to love them. ?. Hate being in limbo.

My doc is hard nosed. My BMI is under 40. 1 week of full liquids starting tomorrow followed by 1 week of clear liquids. I'm sad. Cooked dinner tonight and told my husband that it was all broth for dinner from now on. lol
