I have done the right thing, but right now three days out I have done nothing but cry today. I am tired, hungry grouchy and just sad. This is so not who I am. I am usually very positive and happy. Thank you for letting me vent. I am sure this is normal but I just need a "pep" talk.

thank you all

peace

I think we all go through "post partem depression" (:)) because we're losing a good friend of ours, FOOD!

Many threads have addressed this exact subject--you are NOT alone. But spiffy, it's a trade-off we've made for a better healthier life that's going to be filled with plenty of quality--and lacking in all of the health issues we WERE facing.

You can 'grieve' now, but I KNOW when that scale starts on the downside you will be singing a different tune!!!:D

I was banded on dec 11. I am tired of hiding it from my friends when they ask how i feel. I feel like crap. I'm tired of liquids, I am tired of being tired. Iknow it will get better but it is so not going fast enough!:faint:

I had a major pity party about two days ago. I cried on and off all day. EVEN AT WORK!!! It was awful. I had several little reasons for crying, but none that were earth shattering. It is wierd. Do hormones change with loss of weight? I noticed that my ovarian cysts are not hurting nearly as much. Just a thought. I felt like I did when I was newly pregnant a hundred years ago.... No way that can be it. I have no plumbing. Can surgery trigger menopause?

Thank you all so much for the positive feedback. I am feeling a little better. Aubrie, it was funny you mentioned hormones, I had a full hysterectomy at 36 and had to stop my hormone pills a month before surgery, no side effects during that whole time and now.... waterworks galore. and all those "Ill be home for Christmas.." commercials are doing me in. :think maybe it is just this time of the year.

but today is a new day (same old liquid diet, but a new day :)) hang in there to all my new "band" of brothers and sisters, I believe we are in for a great 2008!!!!

peace

As I'm fond of saying "I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV" but I have heard that hormones are stored in our fat and that as we lose the fat those hormones are released into are body causing all kinds of joy for us. :)

Plus it is a lot like the post-vacation blues, post-baby blues, post-party blues, post-holida blues. These are things you get really worked up in anticipation over. It consumes your days and night leading up to it. It might be all you think about. It's all planning and anticipating and preparing.l...Then it's done and it's like....now what? Especially if you in the slightest obsessed about it before hand. It's easy to feel a kindof let down after the fact. I think I was kindof at a loss for about a week after surgery and then what I did was kick in to my "Now let's get down to business and make this sonofagun WORK!!!!!" and then I redirected my energies to that!

I can relate to this so well!!! Was banded on 12/05 and it has really been hard.... Did not think I would miss eating so much!! Guess that is a sign of a true overeater. Used food to cope and i miss it.....

am trying to take it easy on myself... The true denial of using food as a drug has really kicked in, especially since anything I eat or drink hurts.

I will continue to take it a day at a time....... Hoping that time will heal as well as heal my need to over eat!!!

I will be banded in about 3 weeks and I'm already feeling the downs. My Dr. has me on a very low number of calories a day. I've come to realize that I'm having withdrawal symptoms very similar to one who is trying to quit drugs, alcohol or smoking. I do have to say that on a positive note, my blood sugar level is terrific! Don't worry, things will get better.

It feels so good not to be alone in this. I haven't cried since Monday, I am still having a hard time drinking Water (it kinda burns) but I am physically feeling better (just very tired) I guess this is like withdrawal. normally when I would get the "ickies" (sad feelings) I would turn to food to push it down. I have since started writing in a journal. The last three days I have been writing down any thoughts or feelings I have instead of turning to the fridge, I know anyone reading it may think I have gone a bit looney but I feel better afterward. but these words aren't for anyone else but me. It is so nice to come here and feel so supported, I look forward to hearing about everyone's bandtastic results!!!!

Peace,

Spiffy

Was just cleaning out my old thread subscription list when I saw this old thread. I see you are down 44+ pounds now, so how are you feeling??

Do you still have any regrets or does the woman who wrote your original post seem like a distant memory?

it's hard right after banding b/c you are all swollen, bloated and cut up. but give it a couple weeks - you will realize this is the best thing you've ever done for yourself!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
